Floor Space Required for 1 Ton/Day Charcoal Production Line

More and more investors are recognizing the huge potential of the charcoal machine industry and are ready to enter this business. Almost every customer who consults us about charcoal equipment asks the same question: How much floor space is needed for a charcoal production line?
Charcoal production is not just a single machine, but a complete production line. Even the smallest-capacity line includes four main machines, so the required area is directly proportional to the output capacity—larger output requires more space, and smaller output requires less.
We use the 1 ton/day line as an example for clear explanation.

Main Equipment of the Production Line

A complete charcoal line has four core machines.
They are crusher, dryer, briquette extruder and carbonization furnace.

Equipment Footprint and Workshop Height

The equipment itself takes up about 60 square meters of space.
The dryer’s installed height is approximately 3.5 meters.
Thus, the workshop height must be higher than 3.5 meters.
We recommend a minimum 4-meter height with good ventilation.
After arranging the four machines properly, space is needed. The actual production area requires more than 100 square meters.Besides the production zone, extra space is necessary. You need space for raw material storage and finished product warehouse.

Raw Material Storage Space

A 1-ton daily output needs about 3 tons of raw materials per day.The space varies according to different raw material types.Sawdust takes less space than loose materials like peanut shells.
Branches and similar loose materials need more storage area.

Finished Product Warehouse Requirements

The finished warehouse must be dry and well-ventilated.This avoids moisture absorption that harms charcoal quality.
We suggest a minimum of 200 square meters in total. It includes production, storage, warehouse and working space.

Suggestion for Future Expansion

Preparing a larger area is better for future production expansion.

To summarize, investors should plan the site area based on their chosen equipment to ensure a reasonable and cost-effective investment.
